Jedes Objekt stellt ein Charakteristikum der Stadt dar: die Industrieschlote, die Wellen der Donau, die drei Brücken, die die Stadt verbinden, die Fahrräder, den Hafen. Ein original SKIRL hängt außerdem in jedem Zimmer des Hotels: Dafür malte er ein 170 Quadratmeter großes Bild, das in 111 Stücke aufgeteilt wurde. „Auf jedem einzelnen Bild wollte ich Bewegung und Struktur haben“, erklärt SKIRL. Der Künstler geht immer mit einer Idee ans Werk, zeichnet grobe Umrisse vor und arbeitet dann intuitiv mit seinen Multilinienwerkzeugen. Inspiration findet er im Alltag und in der Natur: „Das kann ein Screenshot von einer Weinkanne sein, die ich im Internet gesehen habe, ein schönes Stück Holz oder eine Felsformation.“ Auf Instagram (@sskirl) veröffentlicht SKIRL Fotos seiner Kunstwerke und Videos von ihrem Entstehungsprozess. “I want each of my pictures to show movement and structure. The Linz harbour is the hotspot for street art and graffiti and the inspiration for the five abstract wall objects that SKIRL created for the lounge of the Motel One Linz-Hauptplatz. Each object represents a characteristic of the city: the industrial chimneys, the waves of the Danube river, the three bridges connecting the city, the bicycles, the harbour. An original SKIRL has also been put up in every room of the hotel: for this he painted a 170-square-metre picture that was divided into 111 pieces. ‘I wanted to have movement and structure in every single painting,’ SKIRL explains. The artist always goes to work with an idea, sketches out rough outlines and then works intuitively with his multi-line tools.
